How Google+ Can Help Improve Your Business

Google+ is one of the newest and fastest growing social networks and once you sign yourself up and browse around, it’s not difficult to see why.

Many people question whether or not it is worth signing their business up to another social network, but before you dismiss Google+, you should know the advantages it gives your business that no other social network can.

In this article, I list just some of the main benefits to using Google+ to improve your business and increase your website traffic.

Quick And Easy Setup

First of all, setting yourself up a business page on Google+ couldn’t be easier. It is actually easier than Facebook, and the system is quick and friendly, so you can get yourself up and running in no time.

Google+ Custom URLs

Google is now offering business pages, and personal pages, a custom URL. At the time of writing, you can only have the URL that Google chooses for you, which unfortunately does limit your options. Also, Google has been known to offer some URL options that simply don’t make sense! But, if you are offered your company name as a custom URL, it now opens up plenty of opportunities to advertise your page in your offline marketing materials. After all, no one wanted to put the old, long style URL on a small business card, did they?

Organise Your Google+ Circles

When you start to add people into circles, make sure you give it some thought. Think of circles as putting people into categories and understand that you can then limit your posts so only certain types of people can see particular types of posts. No other social network offers this kind of flexibility and control over who sees what.

For example, you can create different circles for your different customer types. This then makes it easy for you to target these customers individually, making your posts more interesting and relevant to the viewer. The result will be increased engagement and hopefully more click-throughs to your website.

Build Traffic To Your Website

One of the best ways to use Google+ to build traffic to your website is through the use of the ‘+1’ button. When a user clicks on a ‘+1’ button on a website, it tells other users on the Google network that they publicly appreciate and recommend that content. So, don’t forget to include the ‘+1’ button with your other social network plugins, such as Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.

Cross-Promotion With Google+

In business, it is vital that we understand where our audiences are. The more channels we use to promote our business, the easier it becomes for our customers to find us and read about our brand.

Google already brings us a wide variety of channels and networks that are all linked together. So, when you advertise your business on Google+, you automatically improve your brand awareness on Google Search, Google Maps, Google Local and other services in the Google Network.

All website owners want their website to be found in the Google search results, so why wouldn’t you be on Google+? It’s a win-win situation!

Google+ Works With Other Social Networks

Everyone has their own personality and the same can be said for social networks. Understand that each network can offer your business a range of advantages through various tools, communication styles and different audiences. By using a mixture of all of these networks, you cover more ground and get more exposure.

These are just some of the basics to mastering Google+ and are the essential foundations to getting started on this ever-growing social network. We will be writing some more articles on the specific aspects of Google+ in the near future, but in the meantime, please drop us your Google+ questions in the comments below.
